Herpventures!

Well, it's official! The book is a GO! It's almost finished being illustrated so we're about half way there! There is still so much work to do, but it's a great project and I'm having a blast with it.
The BIG news is, I contacted Dr. Kerry Kriger, founder of www.savethefrogs.com. I wanted to donate the money made from the book to their non-profit. Well, he's been a HUGE help, offering ideas and opinions. I sent him a rough draft. He said he would read though it and have his staff review it. There's a good possibility they may offer the book on their site! He seems genuinely interested and has been gracious enough to help where ever he can. I am VERY excited!
Who would have thought a silly story told to a one month old boy would turn into a project like this? Well, at least now Myles can laugh at his silly Gram's stories. Heh, we're making up a story about whale named Norman lost in the Great Lakes.
Do I smell another book? Let's get the first one finished! You can order the book at www.wyldwurm.com/Herpventures.html

Been awhile

It's been awhile since I posted last. Lots of stuff going on, some bad some good. I'll skip the bad because quite frankly, I'm sick of thinking about it. Ha! Although I would like to wish my ex-fatherinlaw eternal rest as he passes through the pearly gates. He was a good man and he will be dearly missed.

The good? Well, the slither kids are all eating very well and growing like weeds! Here's a recent pic of Tigger, the male spider. Handsome little bugger!

We moved the reptiles into their own room which seems to have calmed the pastels down a bit. They both have been extremely nippy but the female allows me to handle her now. The male bites me every single time he gets the chance! My left arm has become his chew toy so I've dubbed him "puppy".

In other news, I wrote a book! It's a children's fiction book about herps and I think it turned out rather well. I have Laura Rice (Laooda on the forums) illustrating and she's doing a fantastic job! I don't think it'll be ready for Christmas, but I think it'll be a hit in the herp community anyway.
I dedicated the book to my ham of a grandson, Myles. Here's the obligatory grandma pic of the cutest kid EVER!
Well, that about sums up the excitement. More soon...

New Baby

Well it's not a snake, it's BETTER!! (Ball Gods forgive me!) We had my daughter over for dinner tonight and of course she brought my new grandson! I know what you're thinking, "but Kim, you're too YOUNG to be a granny!!" (hehehe... you BETTER be thinking that anyway) I just HAD to share a photo of the happy family. He's just SO huggable!

Pretty Pastel

Been a slow week (aside from getting the pastels from Heather). Pretty much laid up in bed with back pain....again.
While doing a quick check on the little ones, I noticed the little female pastel knocked over her water soooooo of course I HAD to take that opportunity to snap a quick pic. It came out much better than I thought it would. She is such a pretty snake.
More pictures of everyone coming. Soon, I hope.
I am going to the doctor on Monday, hopefully to get my back looked at. Something has got to be done, the pain has become unbearable at times. Simple things like sitting have become near impossible. We'll see how it goes. I'll post the results, if any.

They're heeeeeereee!!

Pastels! YEA! I am so excited to get this pair. Finally got my starter collection established and I'm on my way to breeding some awesome animals! Heather was awesome! She has been through so much lately on top of having a "not so good" season. I compliment her on her customer service.

I'll post more photos once they're settled in.
It's a good day!

Pastels

2 Days! Two more days till I receive my baby Pastels from Heather. Heather has been fabulous through this entire thing. I would not hesitate to purchase more expensive morphs from her.

I seriously cannot wait! They're already set up and ready to settle into their new homes. Getting that FedEx package always gets more exciting than the last! The anticipation is killing me! I'll snap a few pics before they go into QT (of course!)

On a sad note, this will be my last package for awhile. Room is limited until we buy the house. Dang it....how will I ever cope???? ;)

A New Beginning

Hello and welcome to by blog! I figured since I've started breeding Ball Pythons, I may as well keep a record of my progress.

The 2008 season was my very first attempt at breeding and it went pretty well and all offspring have been sold. I did manage to make a few trades (with some exceptional breeders I met on bp.net - thanks everyone!) for my first morphs. 100% Het Albino pair and a female Mojo from John Stranahan at Jasballs, Male Spider and Male Mojo from Sam Mounts at Ball Python Den and expected this Tuesday a Pastel pair from Heather at Heathers Herps. So far, I am extremely happy with these babies and look forward to breeding them!

I'm finally all moved and I have to say that moving was the BEST thing I could have done for myself. Happiness really does exist! Although my animal numbers are limited at the moment, plans are in the works for a full time breeding facility! Can you say SWEEEET!!!!!!?

The website is coming along. I'm in no hurry and will add to it slowly. At the moment I am content on snapping photos for the photo gallery. I think I need to brush up on my photography skills since I only keep about one out of every twenty photos I take ;)

At any rate, thanks for taking interest and please feel welcome to come back anytime!
